Key Vote Program Has Kept NAM Issues Top of Mind for Policymakers

With the release of its Congressional Voting Record on September 29, 2016 (www.nam.org/votingrecord) the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) is highlighting the strength of manufacturers’ advocacy by recognizing more than 300 champions in the 114th Congress. The NAM continues to lead by driving the agenda in Washington, and as a result, Congress is taking action on an increasing number of key manufacturing priorities.

“Manufacturers have mobilized and spoken out, and we have seen Congress respond. This year, members of Congress have taken action on more legislation essential to the growth and success of our industry than in past years,” said NAM Senior Vice President of Policy and Government Relations Aric Newhouse. “Manufacturers were encouraged by these votes on key policies like taxes, trade, infrastructure, energy and more. But manufacturers continue to be disproportionately and adversely impacted by regulations, so it is critical that lawmakers continue to understand what is at stake, seek legislation that will energize the manufacturing economy and fight for manufacturers with their votes.”

Members of Congress who consistently supported the manufacturing community during the 114th Congress (2015-2016) and maintained a voting record of 70 percent or higher will receive the NAM Award for Manufacturing Legislative Excellence.

Key votes included in the Voting Record are selected by small, medium and large manufacturing executives who serve on the NAM’s Key Vote Advisory Committee. Additional information on the NAM Award for Manufacturing Legislative Excellence can be found here.
