The National Marine Representatives Association (NMRA) recently presented the Mel Barr Award to Joe DiMaria, director of sales and marketing for Hubbell Marine. The award recognizes an individual who has contributed to the improvement of the industry and is named in the memory of marine rep Mel Barr, one of the founders of NMRA and its first president. Jonathan Sweet, editor-in-chief of Boating Industry magazine, and NMRA president Kathy Munzinger made the presentation.

“In 1984, Hubbell had only a few boatbuilder accounts. Now, with Joe’s leadership, it has a large percentage of the OEM market. He’s utilized all of Hubbell’s industrial experience and created quality products for boatbuilders and boat owners,” said Sweet during the presentation.

“Joe’s relationship with customers is phenomenal,” continued Sweet. “With exceptional product knowledge, he can talk in-depth to any engineer. He developed innovative sales and promotion programs that fit the marine industry, while working within Hubbell’s $2.5 billion corporate framework.”

Over the years, DiMaria has attended numerous boat shows and industry events, and serves as Hubbell’s face to the marine market. DiMaria is active in ABYC, a member of NMMA and an NMRA supporter.
